John received his BA in Public Relations from UNC-Chapel Hill and his MBA from Pfeiffer University. He is an APR Certified PR Professional, a distinction given for proven ability in PR strategies and ethical practice.

John has more than twelve years’ experience in public relations, research and communications strategies. He has structured and directed successful brand creation and re-imaging campaigns for professional firms and financial companies such as High Point Bank, Benson Investment Management, Oxner Thomas + Permar, Carolina Vein & Laser, Jeruell Management Consultants and others.

In addition to his experience with traditional media, John is a frontrunner in the use of social media marketing. His work in this area includes the creation of the first National MS Society podcast as well as blog creation and management, virtual social world marketing and other social network activities. He has spoken to national audiences about the application and use of social media, and is a thought leader on using Internet communications to achieve specific goals.
